Iloilo province’s COVID-19 growth, attack rate up

ILOILO – From high risk last week, this province is now at critical risk. It coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) two-week growth rate (TWGR) and average daily attack rate (ADAR) are up, according to the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

The TWGR from Dec. 31, 2021 to Jan. 13, 2022 had 818 cases. From Jan. 14, 2022 to Jan. 27, 2022, there were 3,492 cases – or a 327 percent increase.

As for the ADAR:

* from Dec. 31, 2021 to Jan. 13, 2022 – 2.85 percent

* from Jan. 14, 2022 to Jan. 27, 2022 – 12.17 percent

Regarding the healthcare utilization rate (HCUR), it is 63.88 percent.

As of Jan. 30, out of 623 beds dedicated to COVID-19, 398 were occupied.

PHO chief Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon stressed the importance of vaccination to prevent severe COVID.

As of Jan. 30, the fully vaccinated reached 1,009,100 individuals or 69 percent of the target population of 1,448,757. 

“We need vaccines. Refrain from going to crowded and close places. Boost your immune system by having enough rest and sleep. Eat nutritious food and take vitamin supplements,” said Quiñon.

As of Jan. 31, the province recorded 356 new COVID-19 infections, thereby bringing its active cases to 4,594, data from the Department of Health – Region 6 showed./PN
