ILOILO City – The Iloilo United Royals are hoping to end their losing streak as they face Zamboanga Family Sardines in the 2019-2020 Maharlika Basketball Pilipinas Leauge (MPBL) Lakan Cup tonight at the University of San Agustin gym.

Following a string of defeats, noting a 65-59 one at the hands of Batangas City Athletics last week, the Royals are currently on a 15-10 W-L record in the South Division.

They are also hoping to take a win in front of the Ilonggo crowd after being busted in their last two games this season against Pasay Voyagers, 56-52, on September 19, followed by a 89-76 defeat against Davao Occidental Tigers last Nov. 19.

“I told the players that we should believe that we can beat them,” Javelosa told Panay News. “We just have to believe in ourselves. Lahat naman ng teams sa MPBL beatable basta complete lineup namin.”

The Royals will hope to bank on their offensive artilleries Aaron Jeruta, Richard Escoto, Ryan Arambulo, Donald Gumaru, Jasper Parker, Cedric de Joya, Rey Publico and Frederick Rodriguez.

Zamboanga, one of the leaders of the league with a 16-10 record, will counter the Iloilo team with their scoring brilliance from Alvin Pasaol, Anton Asistio, Aaron Black, Leonard Santillan, Jun Bonsubre and Robin Rono.

The Royals-Sardines showdown will be at 8:30 p.m., following the 6:30 p.m. game between the San Juan Knights and the Davao Occidental Tigers./PN
