MANILA – Taekwondo jins from the stable of Denmark V. Pinggol in Iloilo City once again made their mark after bagging 17 medals in the 2018 National CPJ Taekwondo Championships at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Niesha Kariz Pequierda stamped class in poomsae with two gold medals in individual and mixed pair events while Crisgel Castro won a gold in mixed pair and a silver in individual on Sunday.
Cyd Edryc Esmaña, on the other hand, took the gold in the individual event before settling for bronze in mixed pair. Elaine Margaret Borres had one silver medal in mixed pair.
Elizabeth Marie Borres had two bronze medals in individual and mixed events while Rovic John Decafe and Elisha Venice Aguilar also had bronze medals in mixed pair.
Angela Bermejo was the lone gold medalist from the Pinggol squad in kyorugi while Raphael Pico was the only silver medalist. Taking home bronze are Senddrik Valencia, Kyna Gemarino, Ronald Kyle Pico, and Rannie Rose Dedoroy.
Other Pinggol taekwondo jins in the tournament were Roices Dane Decafe, who ranked seventh out of 35 black-belters in junior women division, and Joshua Cachero, who faltered in junior men and mixed pair.
“I can still say that our campaign here was a success,” Pinggol told Panay News. “I am happy na nakapag-uwi kami ng mga medals despite iyong hirap na pinagdaanan ng mga bata.”
