ILOILO – To make their Christmas merrier this December, each of the 14,250 volunteer workers of the provincial government will be given P4,000 allowance.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. instructed the Provincial Treasurer’s Office to cash advance P57 million for the allowance to be released from Dec. 12 to 15.

Giving allowances or cash gifts to volunteer workers has been a “tradition” that the governor continued since 2010.

The provincial government provides P2,500 annual cash gift each volunteer worker and the governor gradually increased it from 3,000 in 2014 to P4,000 in 2015.

Defensor justified that raising the cash gift can help bring more food to the table of the families of the volunteers, especially during noche buena.

Barangay health workers, barangay service point officers, day care workers and barangay nutrition scholars can get their cash gifts in designated payment centers.
