ILOILO City – The recently approved “Weekend Tienda sa Iloilo” will help provide markets for local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), said National Economic and Development Authority-6 regional director Ro-Ann Bacal.
The event, which will be launched on Nov. 26, will gather producers and artists from various municipalities in the province. They will showcase their homegrown food items, handcrafted gift items, artworks, organic vegetables and fruits, and fisheries and aquaculture products.
Furthermore, the “Weekend Tienda sa Iloilo” will be a venue for Ilonggo cuisine to be recognized locally and internationally, as foreign visitors are expected to grace the event.
To be held at Casa Real and Iloilo Provincial Capitol grounds, the event was approved by Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr., who immediately “directed concerned offices of the provincial government to extend their support to the activity.”
The Regional Development Council Region 6 is currently preparing for the weekend market. The organization vows to “provide the best possible market opportunity for local MSME products” which hugely contribute to Western Visayas’ economy. (With a report from PIA/PN)
