MANILA – Ilonggo Gerry Abadiano and Negrense Mike Boniel were selected to be part of the NBTC 24 that will suit up in the Chooks-to-Go National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) All-Star Game at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The Iloilo City-native Abadiano was ranked No. 16 among the most promising high school prospects in the country after playing a key role in National University-Nazareth School Bullpups’ championship in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) juniors basketball.
The San Carlos City, Negros Occidental-native Boniel, on the other hand, was instrumental for Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in winning championships and also advancing to the NBTC National Finals.
Leading the way in the NBTC’s final rankings is San Beda’s all-around forward Rhayyan Amsali, followed by Bullpups twin towers Carl Tamayo and Kevin Quiambao, UAAP Most Valuable Player (MVP) Jake Figueroa of Adamson, and National Collegiate Athletic Association MVP John Barba of Lyceum.
Due to the coronavirus disease-2019, the Chooks-to-Go NBTC League National Finals and its annual All-Star Game were postponed and tentatively rescheduled./PN
