MANILA – An Ilonggo was named part of the Jr. NBA All-Stars team at the close of the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Philippines 2017 in Pasay City.
Ian Dominic Espinosa of the Ateneo De Iloilo was representing Visayas along with Reinhard Jumanoy of the University of San Carlos – North Campus in the eight-man Jr. NBA All-Stars team.
Others chosen in the squad were Kenji Trey Duremdes, Jan Clement Macalalag and Victorino Torres of La Salle Greenhills, Joachim Eddie Laure of National University Bullpups, Johndel Austria of Escuela de Sophia-Caloocan, and 14-year-old Jeryk Dwight Bait of St. Francis National High School.
Meanwhile girls selected as Jr. NBA All-Stars are Boni Marylene Solis, Jane Araza and Jeehan Nikaela Ahmed of Chiang Kai Shek College, Jazmine Ann Maniquis of St. Paul Pasig, Lindsey Nacional of La Salle College Antipolo, Camille Nolasco of Miriam College, and Chinnsai Demana of University of the Visayas in Cebu.
The 2017 Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Philippines All-Stars were picked from a group of 72 boys and girls ages 10 to 14 years old from regional selection camps in Baguio, Cebu, Davao, and Manila and the Alaska Power Camp earlier this year.
The Jr. NBA is the league’s global youth basketball participation program for boys and girls.
After three days of experiencing world-class basketball instruction, the eight Jr. NBA and eight Jr. WNBA All-Stars will be rewarded with an overseas NBA experience together with fellow Jr. NBA All-Stars from Southeast Asia this year./PN
