ILOILO City – To boost their chances for employment, 100 youths will undergo life skills training (LST), a major stage in implementing the JobStart Program in this city.
The young beneficiaries already completed their career guidance and employment coaching (CGEC) sessions.
In July, the Iloilo City government and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6 entered into a memorandum of agreement for the implementation of the training program.
Various Iloilo City-based companies also signed the agreement to host trainees for a three-month technical training and internship.
The LST is the first of the three-phase full-cycle employment facilitation services for “at-risk youth” or young workers with the least access to productive work and who take around two to four years to find their first regular job.
Trainees are expected to learn about knowing oneself, including the world of work, personal branding, job hunting, financial literacy, health and well-being, and networking.
JobStart trainees will also receive a daily training allowance.
Interested applicants must be Filipino city residents, 18 to 24 years old, have reached at least high school level, and is unemployed at the time of application.
Iloilo City is the fourth local government unit in the region to partner with DOLE-6 for the JobStart Program. The program has already provided assistance to beneficiaries from Iloilo Province, Roxas City, Capiz, and San Carlos City, Negros Occidental. (PIA)/PN
