MANILA – Due to inclement weather brought about by the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat), Malacañang suspended work in the executive branch and classes in Metro Manila in all levels starting 3 p.m. on Monday.
The suspensions were based on the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, stated Memorandum Circular No. 46 issued by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
Meanwhile, government agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness, and other vital services will continue with their operations.
The Office of the Executive Secretary left the suspension of work in private offices and establishments to sound discretion of the employers.
Typhoon “Domeng” has left the Philippine area of responsibility on Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration had said.
But the severe tropical storm continued to enhance the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, bringing moderate to heavy rains in many parts of the country on Monday.
“Domeng” had maximum winds of up to 100 kilometers per hour with gustiness of up to 120 kph and moved east-northeast at 23 kph.
The state weather bureau had also warned of possible flooding and landslides in some areas. (PNA)
