ILOILO – The provincial government has released its P500,000 reward money to two informants whose tips to the police led to the neutralization of drug lord Richard Prevendido.
Also yesterday, it released another P500,000 as incentive to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) that worked with other law enforcers to take down Prevendido in Barangay Balabag, Jaro, Iloilo City on Sept. 1.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. personally turned over the half a million pesos bounty to the two informants at the provincial capitol.
According to Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, regional police director, one of the informants was a police “asset” while the other was a Prevendido ally who decided to cooperate with the police.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, police provincial director, received the P500,000 cash incentive on behalf of the IPPO.
“We truly appreciate the provincial government’s cash reward. Sana nga lahat ng ating local government units will have a similar incentive scheme para magpursige pa ang ating kapulisan, kasi bawat probinsya may mga wanted persons,” said Binag.
The city government of Iloilo has offered P500,000, too, to whoever could give information leading to the neutralization of Prevendido. Binag said the Police Regional Office 6 is waiting for its release.
Gratified by the effectiveness of this reward scheme, the regional police director said this will be replicated in operations against other drug targets such as the Bolivar drug group and Balume drug group.
The Balume group is operating in northern Iloilo while the Bolivar drug group holds sway in central Iloilo and province of Capiz.
