Inmates’ ‘Stars of Hope’ light up Roxas City streets

ROXAS City – “Stars of Hope” Christmas lanterns light up major thoroughfares here at night.

The lanterns were crafted by persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) prison facility here.

“These lanterns symbolize faith, victory and hope for a better future of Roxas City,” said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.

Around 300 “Stars of Hope” Christmas lanterns were commissioned by the city government from the BJMP as a way of supporting the PDLs.

PDLs started making Christmas lanterns for sale in 2020 – a livelihood project that is helping them earn income./PN
