THOSE “shabu-white clad” members of Tindig Pilipinas are not out there to defend democracy; they’re there to bring back oligarchy. We are in a thriving democracy. If we’re not as those “shabu-white clad” hypocrites are claiming, do you really think you’re reading this column now?
President Rodrigo Duterte is being lambasted everyday in mainstream media, social media and in the Senate; has anybody been arrested yet, any media outlet closed?
Just a week or so ago, a newspaper, the Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI), printed on their front page a picture of seven Caucasians and a brown-skinned man claiming to be parliamentarians representing the European Union (the EU sent out a disclaimer) all holding placards saying something like “stop oppressing dissent.” Really, if there was oppression of dissent in the country, do you think that picture would have been printed on the front page of PDI? Was the Philippine Daily Inquirer closed and its editors arrested?
Take a look at the motley crew making up the membership of Tindig Pilipinas; it’s a virtual who’s who of all the prominent devotees to the cult of the yellow ribbon. We need not mention names as you know who they are; the rooster of Tindig Pilipinas is made up of either cronies or oligarchs closely associated with Cory and Noynoy Aquino.
Tindig Pilipinas, in case you haven’t noticed, is not a movement to stand up (pun intended) against erectile dysfunction; far from it, although most of the male members probably have that. The organization has only one purpose and that is to return to the status quo before Rodrigo Duterte threw a spanner in the works.
Take a closer look at the forefront of Tindig Pilipinas and you will see that these are the very same people (those still alive) that forced Cory Aquino upon us (by the way, she actually lost in the snap elections and Marcos really won but that’s another story), forced President Erap Estrada out of office and tried but failed to force President Gloria Arroyo also out of office.
Of course, they are also the very same people that made that nincompoop Noynoy Aquino president, which was probably their most profitable investment and would have continued if that probinsyano from Davao didn’t interrupt.
But really, “democracy” and “oligarchy” are both much abused words. Do the natives know what they mean?
Oligarchy – a government in which a small group exercises control, especially for corrupt and selfish purposes
Democracy – government by the people; especially: rule of the majority; a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections.
Here are excerpts from an open letter of UST instructor and social media personality Andrea Carigma to Tindig Pilipinas supporters:
Dear friends,
I hope you realize that in supporting Tindig Pilipinas, you are actually supporting oligarchy, not true democracy.
We have seen that governance before.
A governance where there were a lot of deaths that go unnoticed (SAF44, Mendiola massacre, Hacienda Luisita massacre, Kidapawan massacre, riding in tandem, journalists, even ordinary citizens – di ba halos araw-araw may rape victim, murder etc.).
A governance where beggars in the streets were not truly helped, but were actually hidden from public view when we have important foreign delegates visiting.
A governance who said they were helping farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs by enacting the Magna Carta for SMEs – a magna carta for show because it didn’t truly help. The farmers cannot make use of the financial assistance.
A governance who buys jet planes for show, and trains that don’t fit the railings.
A governance who condemns and ruins its political enemies. Remember CJ Corona? Remember GMA? Remember Binay? Remember Marcos? If in your memory they are indeed vile, then that goes to show how effective the propaganda was.
A governance whose head belongs to the family who treat the sacadas like slave. Making them work 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. and then paying them 38 pesos per week. Modern day slavery.
That is what you are supporting. And Tindig Pilipinas is making you believe that you are overthrowing a dictator.
The “dictator” you are overthrowing is making this economy soar. Just look at the stock market. Look at the BOC collections now.
Look at how noisy it is now. It is noisy because he wants it to be. Funny. We have a “dictator” who promotes freedom of speech – to the point that he allows himself to be lambasted on almost a daily basis. He ordered the PCOO not to meddle with the insults against him. Kaya ayan. Kaliwa’t kanan ang baseless na paninira.
Democracy is more alive now than ever. Tindig Pilipinas is not defending it. It is alive and vibrant. Tindig Pilipinas is just using the convenience of the term.
Wake up, and smell the coffee.
Also, I know you are smart enough to realize that President Duterte CANNOT call for a revolutionary government (like what the Tindig Pilipinas people say). Sa tao ‘yan manggagaling. Taumbayan ang hihiling ng revolutionary government. Hindi si Duterte.
