ILOILO City – Iloilo has the biggest amount of bank savings deposits outside Metro Manila, according to Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
During the opening of the S&R membership shopping yesterday in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao district, Mabilog, in his speech, disclosed that Ilonggos are among the top savers in the country, stressing that Iloilo has one of the biggest amount of bank deposits, totaling to around P60 billion.
“Outside of Metro Manila, Iloilo City has the largest savings deposits in the local banks. We know how to save,” Mabilog said.
He furthermore noted that Ilonggos are naturally thrifty and always ensure that the products they purchase are worth the price.
“Ilonggos are kuripot. But we seek quality. We are okay with spending as long as the product is in good and high quality,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sen. Franklin Drilon expressed his confidence on S&R’s business growth in the city.
“I’m confident that you [S&R] will be able to succeed in your business endeavor,” he said in his speech. “And I encourage you to look around and you will see the potential market in Iloilo City.”/PN
