JOHN B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University and Iloilo Doctors’ College advanced to the finals of the Iloilo Schools Sports Association Meet tertiary basketball after separate victories at the Western Institute of Technology gym.
John B. moved closer to its title-retention bid after dispatching WIT 69-54 with Fritchard Dulce and Hiljohn Cartagena leading the way by scoring 15 points each on Monday.
Doctors’, meanwhile, claimed the other finals seat after an 84-71 victory over University of San Agustin. Lorence Nicole Magtolis had 22 points while Jade Bryan Jardio had 21 for the winning team.
The best-of-three championship series between John B. and Doctors’ begins Oct. 17. Game 2 was slated on the 19th and, if necessary, Game 3 will be on the 22nd.
Meanwhile, action resumes Wednesday with the secondary boys quarterfinals, starting off with CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights taking on Santa Clarita International School Primes at 2 p.m.
The other quarterfinals series is between No. 4 Sun Yat Sen High School and No. 5 Ateneo de Iloilo Blue Dragons at 3:30 p.m.
The winner of Silver Knights-Primes game will battle No. 2 St. Roberts International Academy Panda Rockets in the semifinals while the victor in the other game will take on top-seed and defending champions Hua Siong Red Phoenix./PN
