SENATOR Antonio Trillanes IV is as real as the onscreen orgasm of Dakota Johnson in that semi-erotic film Fifty Shades Darker. In short, his public image is contrived or manufactured to make him look like a “soldier hero.”

The sad part is that a number of naive idiots bought it “hook, line and sinker.” Why, even the fake moans and climax of your friendly neighborhood hooker is more believable than the pronouncements of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.

How he was elected senator of the Republic still leaves a lot of natives puzzled to this day. From Day 1 starting with the failed Oakwood Mutiny which, by the way, lasted only 18 hours, and not a single shot was fired and achieved nothing except bring Trillanes to the six o’clock news, he has fancied himself as a “soldier.”

The image of Antonio Trillanes IV in combat boots and camouflage fatigues complete with a stern warrior face dominated the television screens and newspaper headlines that day and several days after.

I’m not sure if he was also holding a Kalashnikov or a Steyr AUG Assault Rifle just to complete the “soldier warrior” image but I’m pretty sure it was not a Galil or an Uzi Assault Rifle as these props are forever locked in our memories of RAM’s Colonel “Gringo” Honasan circa 1986 EDSA uprising.

Of course, everything about Antonio Trillanes as a “warrior soldier” is farthest from the truth. He is not a soldier, never is and never was; he is a sailor and there’s a whole lot of difference between a soldier and a sailor. Perhaps the only similarity is both professions are under the umbrella of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

While it is true that Antonio Trillanes IV is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy he never joined the Army or the Marines.

He was never a combatant, he did not serve in the front, never saw action in the battlefields of Basilan and Sulo as most fresh graduates of the Philippine Military Academy traditionally do.

For all his posturing as a soldier who he is not, Antonio Trillanes IV has never experienced being shot at by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, Moro National Liberation Front, Abu Sayyaf or the New People’s Army and other enemies of the Republic.

I bet my “black balls” Antonio Trillanes IV has never fired a gun in defense of the Republic.

Antonio Trillanes IV joined the Philippine Navy right after graduating from the Philippine Military Academy.

From “careless whispers”, they say if you want to have a career in the Armed Forces but you want to avoid being shot at or experience a very short lifespan as a Second Lieutenant fresh from the PMA in Basilan, then join the Navy or the Coast Guard.

Antonio Trillanes IV begun and ended his career in the Philippine Navy first as a Supply Officer and finally a Procurement Officer. I don’t think Supply and Procurement Officers are killed in action; a heart attack or stroke probably.

I guess that says a lot for the “angry warrior reformist soldier” image.

In a Facebook post, netizen Butch Ruiz Baliao revealed the alleged reason why Sen. Antonio Trillanes started throwing tirades against the Duterte administration.

He claimed that the parents of Senator Trillanes, Captain Antonio Trillanes Sr. and Estrelita Fuentes, were suppliers at the Philippine Navy but banned from participating in biddings due to their involvement in government anomalies.

“Trillanes started throwing tirades against the establishment when his parents, who were suppliers at the Philippine Navy, were banned from further participating in biddings there due to their involvement in government procurement anomalies.”

He also said that everybody in the military knew what happened to the business of the Trillanes family.

“Everybody in the military knows this. That’s when he started his career as attack dog,” he added.

Hence the penchants of Trillanes for fake “Lascañas Journal” and fake “Duterte bank records.” It is probably safe to say that the expertise of Antonio Trillanes IV is enticing naive and disgruntled soldiers into taking over 5-star hotels and then gorging themselves with the hotel’s food and liquor, and then surrendering later achieving nothing.

The most believable image of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV is a policeman holding him by the drawers dragging him away from his failed takeover of the Manila Peninsula Hotel looking as meek as a lamb and there’s nothing fake about it./PN
