Justice is served!

IT WAS a great day last Tuesday, June 19; Maria Lourdes Sereno was booted out with finality via another fullback kick by the Supreme Court.

Yes, a great day indeed!

Excerpts from the June 19 issue of Panay News:

SC rejects Sereno appeal vs ouster

The Supreme Court dismissed on Tuesday the motion for reconsideration that Maria Lourdes Sereno filed against her removal as chief justice.

Sereno’s former colleagues voted 8-6 to reject the appeal for “lack of merit,” spokesperson Theodore Te said, adding that the high court will no longer entertain any more pleadings to reverse the verdict.

“Respondent has not presented any convincing ground that would merit a modification or reversal of our May 11, 2018 decision,” Te said as head the latest ruling.

In its May 11 decision the magistrates made the same votes to unseat Sereno as the country’s top magistrate, favoring a quo warranto petition alleging that her appointment was invalid.

Maria Lourdes Sereno now holds that distinct title of the being the first “not former and never was” Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

She also was the first to be appointed as Chief Justice who never had any experience or has even seen the insides of a courtroom as a trial lawyer, definitely a first; she was occupying the position as chief magistrate yet never had any experience as a magistrate.

Then again, we should not be surprised as Maria Lourdes Sereno was appointed as Associate Justice then Chief Justice by that nincompoop Noynoy Aquino.

It’s akin to being appointed to be the head referee of the World Cup Finals when you don’t even know the difference between an offside and a fig tree or worse, volleyball and football.

Yes, Maria Lourdes Sereno was or is a lawyer who, at best, was just a mediocre instructor at the College of Law of the University of the Philippines.

Of course, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan is also a lawyer.

Excerpts from the June 19 issue of The Manila Times:

SC rules with finality: Sereno is out

In its May 11 decision the magistrates made the same votes to unseat Sereno as the country’s top magistrate, favoring a quo warranto petition alleging that her appointment was invalid.

Wherefore, respondent’s Ad Cautelam Motion for Reconsideration is Denied with Finality for lack of merit. No further pleadings shall be entertained. Let entry of judgment be made immediately.

The high tribunal said Sereno, an impeachable official under the 1987 Constitution, could be removed from office through quo warrant proceedings, which Solicitor General Jose Calida initiated in a petition he filed before the court where he questioned the validity of Sereno’s appointment in 2012.

Calida cited Sereno’s “lack of integrity” and failure to complete the submission of her Statements of Assets and Liabilities (SALN), a requirement for applicants for the position of chief magistrate.

With its final ruling, the Supreme Court called the attention anew of the Judicial and Bar Council to speed up the nominations for Sereno’s replacement.

With that, it finally puts an end to all those hallucinations that the Supreme Court will reverse its decision.

Moi is guessing that all those pray overs didn’t work; maybe if Maria Lourdes Sereno is a Catholic and maybe if she did not prohibit the Supreme Court justices from making the sign of the cross at the start of every en banc session, then maybe.

Perhaps God turned off his cellphone and laptop whenever He goes to sleep, which probably coincides every time Fr. Robert Reyes conducts his pray overs for Maria Lourdes Sereno.

A colleague made a comment on Facebook that “God does not listen to hypocrites.”

We, however, can be certain that the exorcism of Fr. Robert Reyes at the gates of the Supreme Court while they were deliberating the Quo Warranto petition filed by the Solicitor General worked, the purpose of that exorcism was to drive out the evil spirit from the Supreme Court.

This was the time that God finally heard Fr. Robert Reyes and granted him his request that the evil spirit be driven out of the Supreme Court, hence Maria Lourdes Sereno was booted out by the justices.

God really works in mysterious ways.

Moi is expecting a few people wearing yellow shirts – or is it white now? – running up and down with Fr. Robert Reyes and the usual suspects in front of wherever the TV cameras are, shouting and bearing placards that “democracy is dead.”

Wait, it was an 8-6 vote by the Supreme Court justices and that’s democracy in action. I guess democracy is not dead.

And justice was served cold, shaken not stirred. (brotherlouie16@gmail.com/PN)
