BACOLOD City – The city hall of Kabankalan in Negros Occidental will be closed for three days beginning yesterday. The building will be thoroughly disinfected, according to Mayor Pedro Zayco.
He announced the temporary closure after seven employees assigned at the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) fell ill to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Seven of these COVID-19 cases had exposure to an infected engineer who died last week.
They were all quarantined, Zayco said.
He ordered swab testing for all employees of the CEO, City Mayor’s Office and the City Assessor’s Office.
As of Nov. 19, Kabankalan City had a total of 406 confirmed cases, 42 of which were active, seven dead, and 357 recovered.
Meanwhile, a total of 109 individuals were tagged as Persons Under Monitoring.
COVID-19 spreads from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.
These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth./PN
