ILOILO City – A barangay kagawad was arrested around 6:10 a.m. yesterday at his residence in Barangay Toloto-an, Concepcion, Iloilo for possessing unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The 42-year-old Ian Rey Apocay was taken to the Concepcion police station.
Police Major Samuel Vipinosa, chief of the Concepcion police station, said through the strength of a search warrant, they recovered a 12-gauge shotgun, a .38 revolver, magazines, and ammunition of 12-gauge shotgun from the suspect’s house.
“We received information na may ara siya mga homemade nga armas kag positive aton operation. This is also part of our campaign against loose firearms,” Vipinosa said.
The police chief added that Apocay has a pending frustrated homicide case in court.
Apocay faces charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
