ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) warned its personnel anew not to get involved in illegal drugs and illegal gambling as it implements the “one-strike, no-take policy.”
Police Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor, acting PRO-6 director, said police personnel receiving money from illegal drugs and illegal gambling will be sanctioned accordingly or will be dismissed from service if proven guilty.
“I would like to remind them the ‘one-strike, no take policy.” Do not accept offers from gamblers and drug peddlers. Marunong tayo makuntento sa ating sahod kasi malaki na ito, at maging tapat sa serbisyo,” Villaflor said.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. recently ordered an “intensified crackdown” against illegal gambling and the individuals behind them backed by the formidable “one-strike and no-take policy.”
“The one strike and no take policy represents a zero-tolerance approach, where any negligence or inaction will be met with swift consequences. With this strong stance, the PNP aims to leave no room for leniency in eradicating the illegal gambling menace,” Acorda said.
Under this policy, regional, provincial and district directors, chiefs of police stations, community precinct commanders and other leaders of units found inefficient or wanting in efforts to eradicate illegal gambling in their respective areas of jurisdiction shall be relieved from their posts and charged administratively under the doctrine of command responsibility.
Moreover, Villaflor is also implementing the five-focused agenda of Acorda which will guide the police organization towards becoming a more effective and efficient force.
This includes implementation of aggressive and honest law enforcement operations, giving premium to the morale and welfare of police personnel, integrity enhancement, information and communication technology development, and boosting of community engagement.
He added that part of the aggressive law enforcement are the relentless campaign against illegal drugs and loose firearms and other illegal weapons as well as the intensified conduct of checkpoint, operations against wanted persons, criminal gangs, organized and private crime groups and other threat groups.
