KALIBO, Aklan – Police caught 41 suspects in their antidrug campaign from January to November this year.
Intensified operations by Municipal Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Groups and other law enforcement agencies from July to November led to the arrest of 23 suspects.
The Philippine National Police launched Oplan Double Barrel, a more aggressive antidrug campaign, in July.
August had the most number of arrests with 10. February had five; September, March and June, four each; May, October, July, and November, three each; and April, two.
There were no drug-related arrests in January.
All the suspects were charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The municipal police also arrested 37 wanted persons from January to November.
June had the most number of wanted persons arrested with seven, followed by January, May, July, and October with four each.
Seven persons were nabbed for unauthorized carrying of firearms and deadly weapons — violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police have filed 130 cases for various other crimes in the same period. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
