KALIBO, Aklan – Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member Augusto Tolentino sees the need for the town to acquire more closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras to ensure the security of the public.

Tolentino said putting up additional CCTV cameras in strategic points will ensure safety of streets and security of residents and establishments in 16 barangays.

“We hope to provide better services to our constituents. Mag lalagay tayo ng dagdag na apat na CCTVs sa bawat barangay,” he added.

The councilor will introduce a resolution encouraging Kalibo town mayor Emerson Lachica to allocate budget funds for high resolution CCTVs in support of police anti-criminality campaign in Kalibo.

Tolentino also urged the local police and barangay officials to conduct regular monitoring every night to deter criminalities.

He also stressed the visibility patrol of village watchmenwill also help prevent crimes and maintain peace and order in the barangays.

In 2013, Tolentino authored the Kalibo CCTV ordinance requiring all commercial, industrial and educational establishments to adopt and install closed circuit television security system within their facilities for effective information gathering, securing the properties and help prevent violent crimes.
