MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo kicked off its campaign in the Philippines Football League – Copa Paulino Alcantara on a bright note. It posted a 5-0 domination of the Philippine Air Force FC at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa, Batangas.

Kenshiro Daniels fired two goals on Saturday while Negrense Jayson Panhay, Connor Tacagni and Marwin Angeles added a conversion each in the defending champion Kaya Iloilo’s wipeout victory.

Panhay opened the scoring for Kaya Iloilo at the 29th minute from a pass by Masanari Omura.

The lead grew to 3-0 just before the halftime break on back-to-back hits from Daniels and Tacagni.

Kaya Iloilo took advantage of a miscue by the Air Force as Daniels tallied his second goal of the game before Angeles capped the onslaught with a low drive from outside the box.

In the first game, League champions Ceres-Negros FC failed to hang on to its early advantage to settle for a 2-2 draw with Mendiola FC 1991.

Robert Lopez Mendy fired two goals for the Busmen while Hamed Hadjemadi and Robert Corsame added one apiece for the visiting Mendiola as both teams settled for half points.

“We have many players that didn’t play in the league so I want to give them a chance to prove themselves in the Cup,” said Ceres Negros head coach Risto Vidakovic. “Just to see how the team is working without the regulars.”/PN
