Kaya Iloilo eyes bounce back vs Air Force today

ILOILO City – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo aims to get back on the winning track as it faces Philippine Air Force FC in the 2019 Philippines Football League this afternoon at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

The Ilonggos are currently at second place in the standings with 37 points, on 12 wins, one draw and three losses – way behind defending champion Ceres-Negros FC (46 points).

Despite their already slim chance of nailing the League crown, Kaya-Iloilo head coach Noel Marcaida remains positive. They hope to finish their PFL campaign on a winning note.

“It’s a chance for us to extend the title race. If we calculate it, Ceres Negros is in an advantageous position to claim the title. But we want to push the title race up until the end,” Marcaida said.

He added: “We can only work on things we can control. It’s important to perform well in our remaining matches. Full concentration and determination is what we need to perform at our best.”

The Air Force, on the other hand, is also on a slump, including a 7-0 defeat in the hands of the Busmen last week. The Airmen is at sixth with 11 points, on three wins and two draws and 11 losses

This will be the third time Kaya-Iloilo and the Philippine Air Force are facing each other in this League, with the Ilonggos winning the first one on June 29 (5-0) and another one on August 11 (5-0)./PN
