MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo shoots for their second straight win as they face Azkals Developmental Team in the 2020 Philippines Football League (PFL) at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite at 8 p.m. tonight.
The football club had a winning debut on Wednesday as it toppled newcomer Maharlika-Manila FC, 1-0, behind the goal conversion of Negrense Jayson Panhay.
Kaya-Iloilo head coach Yu Hoshide admitted that the team’s showing against Maharlika-Manila was still far from their fiery form as they hope to improve in their four remaining matches.
“We have to improve in the attacking department,” said Hoshide, who took over the coaching chores from Oliver Colina. “We hope to improve further in our succeeding matches.”
Azkals Developmental Team, on the other hand, came from a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat at the hands of defending champions United City Football Club.
“The score could have easily been 1-1 but I am proud of our performance against United,” said Azkals coach Scott Cooper. “Our guys refused to be bullied and we pushed them back in the last 30 minutes of the match.”
Other fixtures for today feature Stallion-Laguna FC against Maharlika-Manila at 9 a.m. and United City aiming for its second straight win against Mendiola 1991 FC at 4:30 p.m.
United City, however, will play minus Manny Ott, who was sent off in their match against Azkals for red card. Negrense Arnie Pasinabo and Jorrel Aristorenas are expected to pick up the midfielder post./PN
