FORMER IV of Spades frontman Unique Salonga’s recent appearance on Tonight With Boy Abunda with manager Kean Cipriano drew mixed reactions from netizens.

While some criticized him for the way he answered host Boy Abunda’s questions on the show, many viewers also threw negative comments toward him for his overall vibe and called him “bastos” and “pretentious” on social media.

During the media launch for the newly-founded recording label called O/C Records for which Kean serves as a co-Chairman alongside VIVA President Vic Del Rosario, PUSH caught up with the Callalily vocalist where he gave his two cents on the issue of netizens questioning Unique’s artistry.

“Well, pretentious I don’t think so. He’s being true to himself, ‘di ba? Like ako as a manager, ‘di ba ‘pag mas gusto ko na nakikita ko ‘yung artist ko na totoo lang sa sarili niya kesa kung ano-ano sinasabi niya na ‘di naman totoo,” he said.

Though Kean acknowledged the reactions of netizens, he said he has no time for drama. Instead, he and his artists will focus on creating music because they know their truth.

“Okay ‘yung mixed reactions. Tao ‘yan eh. Kanya-kanyang reaction ‘yan eh. Basta kami, we’ll keep on creating good music, kick-ass live shows. That’s what matters to us. ‘Yung ginagawa namin na art. All the drama or whatever negative things na we hear or we see on the internet world, I mean we’re all good. We know our truth. ‘Di ba? We know exactly kung ano ‘yung truth namin,” the 31-year-old singer-actor stated.

Asked what fans can expect from his artists, he answered: “Well, expect nila na ‘yung mga artists nila ito ay nakikita ko na pumupunta like sa outside of their comfort zone. Expect albums, music videos, concerts from the O/C artists,” he stated.

Unique Salonga recently appeared on Tonight With Boy Abunda to promote his upcoming concert The Grandma Tour which is happening on Sept. 29 at the Kia Theatre. (Push)
