MANILA – Goalkeeper Olivia McDaniel produced a 75th minute screamer that gave Stallion Laguna FC a 1-0 win over Makati FC in the PFF Women’s League at the MoA Football Field.
McDaniel, a mainstay of the Philippine women’s football team, scored on a beautiful set piece delivery that broke the goalless stalemate.
Meanwhile, Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo rescued a point with a last-gasp equalizer by Joyce Onrubia to force a 1-1 draw with Capital1 Solar Strikers.
The Solar Strikers opened the scoring after a goalless 90 minutes courtesy of Regine Rebosura and were poised to pull off a monumental upset, but Kaya showed resiliency in the end.
Stallion remained on top of the league table with 22 points, three clear of Kaya and the Solar Strikers with 19 points. Kaya sits in No. 2 by virtue of superior goal difference.
The race for the championship remains too close to call, as Kaya still has two matches in hand, while Stallion and Capital1 have one game left in the league./PN
