MANILA – Eastern Visayas suspected drug lord Kerwin Espinosa, who is set to arrive from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates today, is set to reveal his link with Sen. Leila de Lima.
The son of slain Albuera, Leyte mayor Rolando Espinosa has given de Lima drug money to fund the latter’s campaign during the 2016 elections, a Philippine National Police (PNP) official told Panay News.
“That could be revealed when he arrives here since many can attest sa ugnayan nila,” said the PNP official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. “Even his father has said that his son has links with Senator de Lima.”
In a supporting affidavit to a case filed by the Albuera police chief, Inspector Jove Espenido, before the Office of the Ombudsman in November, Kerwin’s brother Roland Kevin revealed handing P4-million drug money to de Lima’s driver Ronnie Dayan.
De Lima has received drug money from Kerwin, according to affidavits of Espinosa’s driver Marcelo Adorco and personal accountant Vervica Diano.
Kerwin was arrested on Oct. 17 following a tip from a Filipino worker in Abu Dhabi. He is set to arrive early Friday morning and will be in the custody of the PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Group in Camp Crame.
In August President Rodrigo Duterte tagged Kerwin and his father Rolando to the drug trade. He asked the Espinosas to surrender or risk being killed.
Rolando surrendered to PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa and disclosed that his son fled to Malaysia before Duterte assumed the presidency. Later Rolando was killed while detained in Baybay, Leyte./PN
