Nothing makes a woman feel girly when she receives a bouquet on Valentine’s Day, and that’s exactly what Kim Chiu felt when she received flowers from Paulo Avelino.

It’s the thought that counts,” Chiu said after confessing to Avelino’s romantic gesture in a press conference for “The Alibi: Ang Buong Katotohanan.”

Being a man of few words, Avelino said, “Masaya ako na masaya ka.

While Chiu and Avelino have long remained silent about their relationship status, their closeness is evident in the string of projects they have undertaken as an on-screen pair.

“The Alibi” marks their fourth project together, which originally began streaming on Prime Video in November 2025. It is set to return to the Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and AllTV this coming March.

For Chiu, one of the reasons why she enjoyed working with Avelino was that she could feel that she, too, had grown significantly as an actress.

May sense of growth when it comes sa roles na ginagawa namin. Kapag ka-eksena ko si Pau, parang ako naggo-grow as an actor,” she said.

Of course, the onscreen pair credited their dedicated fans for keeping their tandem alive.

“I really had to give it to the people supporting us. ‘Linlang’ was supposed to be a one-time project, pero sila ang nag-request na they wanted more and to see more,” Avelino said.

Chiu said that while KimPau is her third time being paired up with someone, she still feels the support, knowing that actors have a faster turnaround time compared to when she entered the industry.

Nakakatatlong love teams na ako. This day and age, ang bilis ng takbo ng mga artista ngayon, sobra kaming nagugulat na ganito ang effort, time, and love na binibigay nila sa’min,” she said. “Gusto naming ibalik sa kanila by giving them different projects. We’re very lucky.”

Chiu and Avelino are set to visit the U.S. and Canada for a fan meeting tour. Further details are yet to be announced. (Hannah Mallorca © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
