KYLA SOGUILON added three more golds in her medal haul in the Visayas leg of the Batang Pinoy late Monday at the Lorenzo G. Teves Aqua Center in Dumaguete City.
The Kalibo, Aklan native won the 13-15 years old 100m backstroke (1:11.9), 50m butterfly (31.57 seconds) and 4x500m relay team.
Soguilon would have captured her sixth gold in the leg but fell short in 200m backstroke, placing second only to Mary Louise Lacson of Bacolod City.
But the Sun Yat Sen High School standout may still add to her gold medal collection as she led the Aklan squad in the 4x500m freestyle relay late Tuesday.
Another Aklanon swimmer, Jennuel Booh De Leon, topped 12 and Under 400m freestyle (5:13.75) and 50m butterfly (33.60).
With the victories of Soguilon and De Leon, Aklan continued to pace the swimming competition with 13 gold, nine silver and four bronze medals. Behind the Aklanons were Ormoc, Bohol and Dumaguete.
Bacolod, meanwhile, continued to dominate in athletics with two gold medals while Aklan chipped in one in the competition at the Gov. Mariano Perdices Stadium.
Bago City, Negros Occidental natives Ryle Simon Biadora and Shenny Enero claimed golds in boys’ 110m hurdles and girls’ high jump, respectively, while Christian Otte Bagge of Aklan topped boys’ javelin throw./PN
