ILOILO City – An L300 van plunged into a drainage under construction along the national highway in Barangay Poblacion, Leganes, Iloilo.

The driver, Alfredo Cortez III, was wounded on the left ear, police said.

Cortez, a 21-year-old resident of Barangay San Roque Beach, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo, was referred to local rescuers for treatment, said Senior Inspector Dadje Delima, Leganes police chief.

It was not immediately clear what time the incident happened but the Leganes police said they learned about it from a local at around 11:15 p.m.

Cortez was apparently distracted by the glare of the headlights of another vehicle running the opposite direction, police said.

The van incurred damages on the windshield and bumper. It was removed from the unfinished drainage the following morning./PN
