La Carlota city gov’t employees undergo ‘surprise’ drug test

BACOLOD City – On Sept. 14, 674 employees of the city government of La Carlota in Negros Occidental were subjected to unannounced drug tests.

Mayor Rex Jalando-on, together with the City Health Office and the La Carlota City Police Station, led the drug test of regular employees, job orders and casuals.

The drug test was in compliance with City Ordinance No. 2022-011, which promotes a drug-free workplace. Failure to comply may result in administrative charges.

A few months ago, local government units (LGUs) across the province held a series of random drug tests.

Over a dozen employees from different LGUs tested positive for illegal drug use and were immediately sacked. (Watchmen Daily Journal)
