BACOLOD City – The distribution of rice for registered residents of this city resumes this Saturday, Sept. 16.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said at least 40 percent of beneficiaries have yet to receive the assistance.
City government records showed that 252,634 of the 344,000 target beneficiaries have already received rice.
An additional distribution center will be set up at the Arao Relocation Site in Barangay Vista Alegre, aside from several schools designated as such.
Benitez hoped to reach at least 80 percent of the target beneficiaries over the weekend.
The distribution of two kilos of rice for each registered resident followed the declaration of a state of calamity in Bacolod due to widespread floods brought by the southwest monsoon in August.
