ILOILO City – A housemaid in Barangay Divinagracia, La Paz was accused of stealing her employer’s money and personal belongings.
Charlene Malanay, a 28-year-old native of Barangay Quiwi, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, was arrested and detained at the district police station.
Jo-Ann Gargalicana, 38, sought help from the police after suspecting that Malanay, a stay-in house help, took some of their valuables.
Along with a police officer, Gargalicana inspected the maid’s quarters and found several items she owned, including an RCBC bank card, an RCBC bank savings bankbook and a Palawan Express Pera Padala receipt.
Security camera footage also showed Malanay entered the room of Gargalicana’s mother Charlie Bernales at around 4 p.m. on Aug. 16 and took some personal belongings, a police report showed.
The complainant also discovered that they lost P10,000 cash, the report stated.
