La Paz man yields over P1M worth of ‘shabu’ in Arevalo

ILOILO City – Authorities seized approximately 150 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P1,020,000 and arrested a high-value individual during a buy-bust operation in Sto. Niño Subdivision, Barangay Bonifacio, Arevalo district, at around 7:20 p.m. on April 5.

The suspect, identified by the aliases “Boss” and “May2x,” is a 52-year-old unemployed resident of La Paz district. Police said the suspect was placed under surveillance for nearly a month prior to the arrest. Records show he has a previous drug-related case and was earlier released through plea bargaining.

Joint operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6, the Regional Intelligence Division 6, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Group- Special Operations Unit 6, and Iloilo City Police Station 6 recovered a total of 13 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing the suspected shabu, buy-bust and proceeds money, and other drug and non-drug-related items.

Police Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), commended the operatives for the high-value seizure.

“This accomplishment is not ours alone, it is a shared success with the community. The confiscation of these illegal drugs marks a significant step toward a safer, brighter, and more secure future for the people of Western Visayas,” stated Ligan.

The suspect is currently under police custody and will face charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
