ILOILO City – A 16-year-old lad went missing yesterday afternoon. He was swept by rushing waters while crossing the Jalaur River in Barangay Compo, San Enrique, Iloilo.
The victim, whose name was withheld by police, was on his way home on a bamboo raft at around 6 p.m. when the water in the river suddenly swelled and carried him away.
Search and rescue operations continued to locate the missing lad.
To avoid similar incidents, local authorities reminded families living along riverbanks to not allow their children to swim or cross rivers unaccompanied by elders./PN
