ILOILO – A 17-year-old lad accidentally shot himself in the leg with a homemade 12-gauge shotgun in Barangay Ungka 1, Pavia, Iloilo at around 12:45 a.m. yesterday, Sept. 17.
Police Major Dadjie Delima, chief of the Pavia Municipal Police Station, said the teenager was holding the firearm beside his right waist while walking with six other minors when the incident happened.
The teen immediately threw the gun away, and, luckily, no one else was injured.
He is now at the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao, Iloilo City and is in stable condition.
“Ang firearm dala-dala niya lang daw according sa iya kag loose firearm ini,” Delima said.
The Pavia police will file an appropriate charge against the minor.
“Ma-file kami sang kaso kay 17 na siya. Although minor, we will establish sang ginatawag nga discernment kag depende sa court kung i-arrest siya when he reaches 18,” Delima added./PN
