ILOILO – The long-awaited incentives for Palarong Pambansa 2023 and Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet 2023 medalists might be around the corner.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan committee on appropriations chairperson and 4th District Board member Domingo Oso Jr. met with Vice Gov. Christine Garin last week to discuss the release of incentives.
“May allocation nga more or less P5 million. Hopefully next week mapanghatag na ina,” Oso told Panay News last week, adding that the provincial accounting office is only waiting for the list of recipients.
The list shall be submitted by the Schools Division of Iloilo (SDO), particularly from the office or department assigned to the sporting events.
“Daw ginhatagan ang DepEd and in-charge sa Palaro nga i-submit nila ang list of names sang nagdalaog nga athletes, coaches and chaperones, kag himuan sang certification. And once ma-submit i-process sang accounting,” Oso added.
Provincial Ordinance No. 2020-217 states that the incentives are in recognition of Iloilo provincial athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, trainers, and chaperones who excel in sports competitions sanctioned by the Department of Education (DepEd), Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
“In consonance with the national government’s policy, the provincial government of Iloilo do hereby recognize those athletes and their coaches who excel in different sports events/competitions, especially those who brought pride and honor to the province, by giving awards and recognition as a form of appreciation of their achievements,” read part of the provincial ordinance.
For Palarong Pambansa, below are the respective cash incentives to be received by the athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, chaperones, and trainers:
For athletes
* Gold – P8,000
* Silver – P6,000
* Bronze – P4,000
For coaches
* Gold – P8,000
* Silver – P6,000
* Bronze – P4,000
For assistant coaches
* Gold – P5,000
* Silver – P4,000
* Bronze – P2,500
For trainers
* Gold – P8,000
* Silver – P6,000
* Bronze – P4,000
For chaperones
* Gold – P3,000
* Silver – P2,000
* Bronze – P1,000
Athletes receiving the reward and recognition must meet the following requirements:
* must be a Filipino citizen
* must be a bonafide resident of Iloilo and must have duly represented the province in the sports competitions in which he or she participated
* has brought pride and honor to the province because of his or her achievement
* a gold, silver, or bronze medalist or a combination thereof in regional, national, and international competitions in any sports discipline event recognized and sanctioned by the DepEd, PSC, and POC
* must either be in individual, dual or team events
The documentary requirements are the following:
* certified true copy of birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistic Authority
* barangay certification of residency or voter’s affidavit
* valid ID of the awardee(s)
* if the athlete is a minor, parents or guardians’ voter’s affidavit and a valid identification card are required
* proof of winning (medal, trophy, certificate of award, and awarding ceremony picture)./PN
