LAG beneficiaries in Passi City get livelihood aid

ILOILO City – A total of 2.6 million livelihood assistance were distributed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Western Visayas recently to the Livelihood Assistance Grant beneficiaries (LAG) in Passi City, Iloilo.

“We are glad to assist the beneficiaries into surviving this pandemic and optimistic that they will be able to sustain their livelihood projects for them to help themselves and their families,” DSWD-6 regional director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre said in a Facebook post.

A total of 525 LAG beneficiaries, according to DSWD-6, are composed of sari-sari store owners, fruits and vegetable sellers, meat and pork vendors, food merchants, LBGTQs, and solo parents.

LAG is one of the recovery and rehabilitation initiatives of the government meant to serve families whose jobs were affected due to the health pandemic.

Moreover, the agency said that qualified LAG beneficiaries are given financial assistance, prioritizing households with low-income or whose small businesses have been affected by the pandemic.(PIA/PN)
