ILOILO City – Land dispute is being eyed as motive in a shooting that wounded a 59-year-old woman farm worker in Barangay Bacong, Caluya, Antique.
On Jan. 6, Julieta Silverio was taken to the Kalibo District Hospital. She was shot while resting together with other peasants working at the farm of Jun Amarella.
The shooting happened around 2 p.m., police said. The suspect fled afterwards.
A suspect had been identified – Dio Franco Janairo.
Police said the shooting appeared to be random. Amarella and Janairo allegedly had a land dispute.
As of this writing, the suspect’s whereabouts were unknown./PN
