LAST CHANCE: 13 ‘remiss’ brgys given until today to submit road clearing report

ILOILO City – Thirteen barangays in this southern city failed to submit accomplishment reports on the road clearing operations in their respective areas.

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Iloilo City gave these villages until today to submit the necessary documents supposedly due last December yet, said Roberto Niño, village chief of Calumpang, Molo district and vice president of the Liga ng mga Barangay in Iloilo.

According to Niño, the DILG and city government’s Task Force on Anti-Squatting and Illegal Structures (ASIS) sought the help of the Liga to call the attention of these negligent barangays.

Among the common reasons cited by these barangays for failing to submit their reports, according to Niño, were their workloads in processing paper work related to the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged / Displaced Workers program and validations for drug clearing and Social Amelioration Program for driver beneficiaries, among others.

Naga-data gathering man ang aton mga barangay officials kag secretaries para sa quick response code system for contact tracing. That’s why nagpangayo na lang sang bulig ang aton city DILG kag Task Force ASIS para mapadasig ang ma-comply sang nabilin nga mga barangays,” Niño said.

Niño is confident that the city will pass the DILG’s road clearing evaluation just like in 2019 during the first conduct of road clearing.

The deadline of the second round of the road clearing operation is on Jan. 18.

The evaluation process will be the same as the first clearing operation.

In October 2019, the DILG gave the city a rating of 83 percent in road clearing operations. This rating is higher than the passing rate set by the DILG itself, 70 percent./PN
