BACOLOD City – This city is set to welcome over 300 members of the Upsilon Sigma Phi and Sigma Delta Phi as they bring their much-anticipated Layas Pakadto sa Visayas 2025 to the City of Smiles on April 4 to 6, 2025. The event will bring together a vibrant mix of alumni and resident members from across the country for a weekend filled with sports, fellowship, and cultural experiences.
Spearheaded by Upsilonians in Negros, led by Roel Z. Castro ‘84, the three-day gathering promises to showcase the best of Bacolod’s hospitality, heritage, and scenic beauty.
The festivities will kick off this Friday, April 4, with the arrival of delegates. Upsilonians na Pumapalo will head to the Marapara Golf & Country Club for a practice round, warming up for the weekend tournament. The day will end with a welcome dinner at The Ruins, offering a stunning backdrop for rekindling friendships and making new ones. With its silhouette and enchanting ambiance, the iconic heritage site will set the perfect tone for the days ahead.
On Saturday, April 5, the event will be in full swing with a golf tournament at Marapara, where participants will compete on the pristine greens. Adding a playful twist, the “Lasing sa Green, Sablay sa Swing” drinking contest will keep the atmosphere lighthearted, with participants guaranteed to share plenty of laughs — whether they land a perfect putt or miss entirely. Meanwhile, Hoopsilonians basketball games will heat the court, as teams battle for Layas Pakadto sa Visayas Cup in a spirited yet friendly competition.
For those seeking a more relaxed experience, a heritage tour of Silay City will offer a glimpse into the region’s rich history. Participants will explore ancestral homes, historical landmarks, and enjoy the charm of this quaint and culturally significant town.
The day will culminate with a Grand Fellowship Night at Sa Babi, where delegates will enjoy unlimited drinks, live music, and a night of revelry. The laid-back ambiance, paired with Bacolod’s signature warmth, will create the perfect setting for brothers and sisters to celebrate their enduring bond.
On Sunday, April 6, the event will wind down with a picnic at Almadria (Pine Resort at the foot of Mt. Kanlaon). Here, participants can relax under the shade of towering pines, enjoy local food, and soak in the tranquility of nature. To keep the good vibes going, a DJ will spin chill tracks throughout the afternoon, blending music with the soothing sounds of the outdoors—a perfect way to cap off the weekend before heading home.
Beyond the festivities, the USPAA and USPLBAA will also hold a Board of Trustees meeting during the event, underscoring the fraternity’s commitment to fostering stronger ties and driving meaningful initiatives.
