BACOLOD City – Mayor EvelioLeonardia is hopeful that the city can adopt an urban master plan in due time.
Leonardia met with world-renowned urban planner Felino “Jun” Palafox and his senior associates in Manila last week for exploratory talks on the proposed project.
Rep. Greg Gasataya – who expressed his full support for the proposed project – accompanied Leonardia.
Also with them are City Administrator John Orola and City Legal Officer JoselitoBayatan.
“We explored further the possibility of drawing up an urban master plan and we were able to identify some benchmarks,” Leonardia said.
But Leonardia added that they have not sealed any deal yet – pending the amount of professional fee for the study of the master plan.
“Besides, it might still go through a bidding process,” he stressed.
The mayor said with “whatever may develop” from the meeting, they will “strictly follow procedures, technicalities, and legalities.”
Leonardia added, “While we know how valuable and how much it could be, we are not yet ready with our budget.”
The Office of House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez facilitated the meeting, said Leonardia.
