LGUs to revise Bacolod transport route plans

BACOLOD City – The local government unit (LGU) in this city will update the existing transport route plan of public utility buses, jeepneys and tricycle.

George Zulueta, City Development Council (CDC) vice chairman, said the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is requiring LGUs to submit the updated route plan on or before July 15.

“The city’s existing route plan is already old,” Zulueta explained.

An updated route plan approved by the LGU is a requirement in securing a franchise from the LTFRB.

“Jeepneys plying circumferential road will mostly be affected by the update,” said Zulueta.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, meanwhile, said the city council needs to ratify the revised transport plan before it could be submitted to the LTFRB.

“It will be submitted in the city council possibly next month because we only have one remaining session left this month,” said Familiaran./PN
