ILOILO – Local government unit (LGU) officials will be signing a covenant supporting the Duterte administration’s fight against illegal drugs.
The signing this week will be attended by mayors, town councilors, Provincial Board members, barangay officials, and representatives from other sectors said Chief Inspector Aron Palomo, Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) spokesperson.

“This is a vow to also support the police and make the province of Iloilo drug-free,” added Palomo.

He admitted that the police’s budget is not enough to carry out its responsibilities.

“We have other things to pay such as for supplies, repair of patrol cars and their gasoline. We need the help of local officials,” said Palomo.
Since July 1, 782 individuals listed in the Western Visayas police’s drug watch list have been neutralized.

These 782 were “high-value” and “low-value” targets, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

As of Sept. 18, PRO-6’s records also showed a total of 17,475 surrenderees (both the police-listed drug personalities and the unlisted). Of these, 1,114 were drug pushers and 16,361 drug users.

Iloilo province had the most number of surrenderees at 6,582 followed by Capiz with 5,269; Aklan with 1,826; Antique with 1,037; Guimaras with 629; and Iloilo City with 2,132./PN
