LTFRB-Bacolod ‘temporarily’ shuts down

BACOLOD City – The satellite office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) located along San Juan Street across the public plaza has already closed.

But Councilor Dindo Ramos said this was only “temporary.”

Ramos, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on transportation, told Panay News that the LTFRB will not operate in the city for two weeks beginning Sept. 1 while transferring to its new office in Barangay Mansilingan.

With its “bigger” office, the LTFRB will be able to accommodate the growing demands of its clients, Ramos added.

Members of local transport groups have opposed the supposed eviction of LTFRB in the city.

They said this would mean that they have to travel to Iloilo City for their LTFRB transactions, thus incurring more expenses.

But Ramos, Mayor Evelio Leonardia and City Administrator John Orola have clarified that the city government did not order to evict the LTFRB in Bacolod.

LTFRB officials have “presumed” that the city government wants to “evict” them after receiving information insinuating such from an individual whose identity Ramos did not disclose.

The city government has not issued an “official communication” that orders the eviction of the LTFRB in Bacolod, Ramos stressed.

According to Leonardia, the “hearsay” was only a “black propaganda to destroy” his administration./PN
