Talisay drug bust nets Silay man; P240-T ‘shabu’ seized

BACOLOD City – Yesterday’s drug buy-bust operation led to the recovery of 20 grams of suspected shabu inside a pension house in Barangay Zone 2, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

The suspected illegal drugs were valued at around P240,000, police said.

They were confiscated from the 41-year-old Marlon Cordero of Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Cordero was caught inside a room on the second floor of Vermillion Pension after he sold suspected shabu to an undercover police officer for P6,000 around 1:15 p.m.

Joint elements of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Provincial Intelligence Unit and Drug Enforcement Units of Talisay and Silay City police stations staged the sting operation.

PDEU head Senior Inspector Rogelio Pacificar said Cordero had been under surveillance since they got a tip that he sells illegal drugs in Talisay and Silay cities.

Pacificar added that Cordero had been jailed for the same offense before but was released after he posted bail.

Aside from the suspected shabu contained in 10 plastic sachets, a digital weighing scale, scissors and other drug paraphernalia were also recovered from Cordero, police said.

Cordero, detained in the lockup cell of the Talisay City police station, faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He will also undergo a drug test./PN
