LTO-Bacolod converted to Negros Occ. Licensing Center

BACOLOD City – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in this city is now called the “Negros Occidental Licensing Center” following the lapsing into law of Republic Act (RA) 11818 that mandated the conversion.

The conversion was aimed to introduce significant improvements to the personnel, capacity, and services of LTO-Bacolod.

In December 2020, the House of Representative approved on third and final reading House Bill No. 5680 authored by Bacolod Cty’s Cong. Greg Gasataya converting LTO-Bacolod into a regular licensing center.

It was modified by the Senate of the on Jan. 31, 2022 and concurred by the House of Representatives in Feb. 2, 2022. It lapsed into law on June 2, 2022.

For years, LTO-Bacolod was the processing site for major transactions related to motor vehicle registration and issuance of driver’s license, but its workforce only consisted of nine regular employees and four job order employees.

But with the local economy improving and resulting to more motor vehicles plying the streets, Gasataya said the time has come to improve LTO-Bacolod’s services./PN
