CAPIZ — The vibrant streets from Robinsons Roxas to the Provincial Capitol in Pueblo de Panay were transformed into a culinary showcase during the “Luto nga Capisnon: Parade of Flavors” on April 15.
The event, one of the highlights of the Capiztahan 2026 festivities, celebrated the rich gastronomic heritage of Capiz while promoting local culture and unity.
Thousands of residents and visitors lined the parade route to witness the grand procession featuring the best of Capisnon cuisine.
Organized by the Provincial Government of Capiz, the event underscored the local government’s commitment to preserving and promoting the province’s culinary traditions.
Participants, composed of Capitol employees and various community stakeholders, donned creatively designed costumes inspired by traditional dishes and local ingredients. From fish-themed ensembles to attire symbolizing the province’s rice harvest, the costumes reflected the creativity and pride of the Capisnon people.
Spectators were treated to a feast for the senses as food stalls along the route offered samples of local delicacies. Among the featured dishes were kinilaw na isda, a fresh fish dish marinated in vinegar and spices, as well as popular local pastries such as buko pie and roscas.
The air was filled with the aroma of grilled seafood, steaming rice, and sweet delicacies, drawing attendees to indulge in the flavors of Capiz.
More than a food showcase, the parade served as a cultural celebration highlighting the province’s identity and heritage.
Governor Fredenil H. Castro, a strong advocate of cultural initiatives, expressed support for the event and emphasized the importance of such celebrations in strengthening local identity and fostering community pride.
The festivities culminated in cultural performances featuring traditional music and dance. Local artists captivated the audience with folk presentations that reflected the history and traditions of Capiz.
