ANTIQUE – A 48-year-old woman was killed by her daughter’s live-in partner in Barangay Magsaysay, Patnongon town, on Monday night, April 24.
Ginalyn Vargas Villanueva, a single parent, was hacked and stabbed by suspect Benjamin Salvacion Panaligan, 24, of Sitio Cabudipa, Barangay Poblacion of the said town.
In an interview with Panay News, Police Captian Berlyn Visda, officer-in-charge of the Patnongon Municipal Police Station (MPS), said the suspect was angry at Villanueva. The victim took custody of her daughter, the 17-year-old alias “Nene,” who was physically abused by Panaligan.
The morning before the incident, Villanueva and “Nene” went to the Patnongon MPS to file a blotter against the suspect and ask for advice from the Women’s and Children’s Desk.
“Itong si Nene galing sa school, pag-uwi niya kumakatok ito sa kanilang bahay nang bigla na lang daw nag-appear sa likod niya si Benjamin at bigla siyang sinakal. Nagsisigaw itong si Nene nang mabitawan ni Benjamin na nagpunta ng baboyan at may kinuhang bolo,” said Visda.
The police added: “At pagkabukas ng pinto, biglang tinaga ni Benjamin si ma’am Ginalyn. Ang pagkataga po ay pitong beses mula sa ulo, braso, at sa katawan, at dalawang saksak sa bandang sikmura,”
The suspect was caught the following day, April 25, and is now being held at the Patnongon MPS facing a murder charge.
Meanwhile, “Nene” is in the custody of the Municipal Social Welfare Office./PN
