MANILA — Malacañang urged the public and government critics to set aside political attacks and focus on unity and cooperation during Holy Week, warning that divisive rhetoric undermines national efforts at a critical time.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro made the appeal amid continued criticisms directed at President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his administration, emphasizing that the solemn period should be used for reflection rather than political confrontation.
“Sa ngayon, sa panahon ngayon, ay iwasan po natin sana ang pamumulitika,” Castro told the media in a briefing at Malacañang Palace.
She stressed that critics should channel their concerns into constructive engagement instead of resorting to negative commentary that could further deepen divisions.
“Kung wala po silang masasabing maganda at paninira lamang, tumigil muna sila at makipagtulungan na lamang po sa administrasyon para sa ikaaangat ng ating bansa,” she added.
Castro also cautioned against criticism driven by personal interests, saying such actions are ill-timed given the country’s current challenges.
“Ang basher po ngayon, pansariling interes para masira ang gobyerno. Hindi po iyan napapanahon,” she said.
Despite the sharp remarks, Castro maintained that inclusivity remains essential, even extending a conciliatory tone toward critics.
“Lahat po, dapat ipagdasal,” she said when asked if she would include them in her prayers.Ï
